What's Really in Your Sportswear? Organic Cotton & Recycled Polyamide

Most brands will tell you their clothing is "sustainable" or "eco-friendly." We won't. Instead, we'll tell you exactly which materials are in M23 products and why we chose them — because they work when you actually train in them.

Why Material Actually Matters in Activewear

Not for marketing. For you.

Bad materials make themselves known immediately: too heavy, clinging to your body, losing their fit after a short while. Good materials you barely notice — they just work.

Organic cotton and recycled polyamide are in our products because they do the job — yoga, outdoor fitness, Hyrox, everyday wear, everything in between.

Organic Cotton — What It Actually Means

Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilisers. That's the fundamental difference from conventional cotton. Our organic cotton comes from certified cultivation.

What that means when you wear it: a soft feel and a fabric that breathes. With 5–8% elastane, it moves with you.

Where you'll find organic cotton in M23: Ben and Lola t-shirts, Clara and Kobe tank tops, Chloé and Zane shorts, Clint, Emma and Luke joggers, Phil and Charlie sweaters, Kyle sleeveless hoodie — the majority of the range.

What organic cotton is good for: Yoga, light training, everyday wear — anything where breathability and skin feel matter more than quick drying. For high-intensity sessions where fast drying is critical, recycled polyamide is the better choice.

Recycled Polyamide — Where It Is and Why

Polyamide is more elastic than cotton and dries significantly faster. Recycled polyamide has the same properties.

Where we use recycled polyamide in M23:

As the main material in Lina (leggings) and Sue (biker shorts): 80% recycled polyamide / 20% recycled elastane. It sits closer to the body than cotton, stretches and returns to shape. For leggings, it's the logical choice.

And as a functional detail — as pocket lining in Emma, Clint, Zane, Chloé and Luke (73% recycled polyamide / 27% recycled elastane). Cotton pockets absorb sweat and dry slowly. Polyamide lining dries fast and stays light. That's not a marketing detail. That's function.

What M23 Does — Concretely

We're a small Berlin label. No corporate structure, no advertising promises.

What we don't claim: that we're perfect. What we can tell you: what's in every piece. The exact composition is on every product page.

Care — Short and Practical

Organic cotton: 30 °C, no fabric softener (it coats the fibres and reduces breathability), air dry. No tumble dryer — heat shrinks cotton.

Recycled polyamide: Cold or 30 °C, delicate cycle, air dry. Polyamide doesn't tolerate high temperatures.

You don't need to wash either material after every single session — as long as you air it out afterwards. It's gentler on the fibres.

Which M23 piece suits your training is on each product page — with an exact material description.
